I have something to confess and I think it’s gonna come as a shock to some of you, but here goes:
I’m 28 and I never learned how to ride a bike. Not properly.
In my defense, I never had a bike growing up and I did try to teach myself about 10 years ago because I thought it’s embarrassing that I’m almost 20 and I don’t know how to ride a bike. Ha! How do you think I feel now that I’m almost 30(!) and still don’t know! And I’m also telling the entire internet my secret! Well, actually I’m only telling my 2 only readers, one of which is my boyfriend, haha. I digress.
As I was saying, I did try to learn about 10 years ago, but I only had my mom’s bike to work with and it’s a big boy – too big to be able to touch the ground with my feet if I felt unbalanced. After a few tries and a lot of blisters I gave up. I always hope the same thing: that this is the year I’ll finally learn how to ride a bike. 2018 was not that year. Perhaps 2019? #hereshoping
I did learn one new thing this year and it was how to ride a scooter and let me tell you – not as easy as it may seem! You have to keep your balance and also steer, can you believe it? All those people using the scooter on the street made it seem so easy! It took me quite a few tries to get used to it, but then I was so hooked. It took my family some effort to get me off that thing, haha. I was a kid again.
Was talking to my brother in-law and he was saying: “You know who’s the best scooter rider out of all 3 of you (i.e. my sister, mom and myself)? Your mom.” Well, yeah, of course she is, she’s the only one of us who knows how to ride a bike, therefore has the whole steering and balance thing down.
See you later,
